Bart Ward grew up in Minnesota and is a graduate from UCLA with double major. During
the late 1970s Ward interned at the Los Angels office of the Securities & Exchange Commission. He was mentored by Richard Ney, writer and founder of Richard Ney & Associates, a wealth management firm which specialized in analyzing the wholesale structure of the NYSE. Ward went on to join a regional Los Angeles broker/dealer and then co-founded the investment advisory firm of Leer Pfeiffer Ward Corporation (LPW). LPW's focus was on analyzing a select group of NYSE listed companies. A subsidiary of LPW, OnLine Market Systems, designed and sold high-speed tickertape reading devices to institutional clients. These systems were responsible for interrogating and analyzing tickertape transactional data and providing intermediate and long-term decision support for the stocks listed in the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Standard & Poor's 100.
In 1986, Ward relocated back to Minnesota joining an investment firm that is now known as Ward & Company. He managed a branch office for Prentice-Dominick, a
creation of Dominick & Dominick, the "oldest continuing member of the NYSE." During his career he has hosted such financial television and radio programs as the Ticker Tape Report,
MoneyTalk, and This Is Wall Street. He writes the syndicated market column The Corner with over 910 columns since 1993. Ward has been published in NYSE Magazine and Financial History: The
Magazine of the Museum of American Finance.
He is the author of numerous articles on the stock market, economics, and American financial and Wall Street history. He is regularly featured in newspaper articles and commentaries and has weighed in extensively on official SEC commentary on the organization, management and operation of the NYSE and the capital markets.
Ward is currently the CEO of Ward & Company, Ltd., a Minnesota based investment advisor—specializing in the management of stock & bond portfolios in NYSE listed companies. He sits on the boards at
the Anoka County Historical Society, Anoka Anti-Crime Commission, Anoka Heritage Preservation Commission, Anoka County United, Emeritus Member of Anoka Technical College Foundation and a 3 term past member of the Met Council Transportation Advisory Board.
